Dr. Betty Lau, MD

Dr. Lau is double board-certified in Child Psychiatry and General Adult Psychiatry. Dr. Lau has dedicated her career to working with children and families.  Her expertise and experience come from being in practice for 8 years focusing on children and being the director of a large psychiatric clinic in NYC. Dr. Lau completed her board certification education at St. George’s University School of Medicine with her psychiatry residency at The Hartford Hospital, Institute of Living. She pursued her fellowship training in child psychiatry at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital.

 

Dr. Lau takes a special interest in treating children, adolescents, and adults.

She provides a warm, empathic and friendly environment with a deep understanding of psychopathology and various aspects of child development.  She works closely with parents and schools to get a holistic view of how the child functions.  Her goal is to help patients navigate through difficulties while promoting healing.

She provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy specializing in treating depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, autism, and school related problems. Dr. Lau carefully weighs the risks and benefits of all treatment modalities while focusing on optimal treatment outcomes, enhancing patient functioning and inspiring joyful living.
